Max Headroom
I never got into it when it came out in the 80’s. I think I was a bit out of the radar, being a little 9 years-old and in Venezuela. But I do remember a the image and the name of Max Headroom, mentioned, of course, by the older brother of one of my friends.
I looked it up again and the phenomenon was very interesting, especially for the 80’s. The idea is strong and the production values served it perfectly. Even by today’s standards, the quirky editing and sound effects that accentuate Max’s mannerisms are wonderful. The way they went about the art direction and graphics is also very clever. The fact that there was a veil of mystery around the character, whether he was virtual or not, was way before it’s time.
